I. Overview
Jasmine tea is a reprocessed tea made by repeatedly scenting green tea leaves with fresh jasmine blossoms, blending the freshness of green tea with the sweet aroma of jasmine. It is a representative category of traditional Chinese floral teas. Sichuan-style jasmine tea, for example, uses high-altitude cloud-mist tea from Mount Emei or Mount Mengding as the base and pairs it with double-petal jasmine flowers from Hengxian, Guangxi, creating a harmonious balance of tea and floral notes.
Appearance: Dry leaves are tightly rolled with visible white tips. When brewed, the liquor is clear green or golden-yellow. Features floating jasmine petals, creating a visual scene reminiscent of “snowflakes floating on an emerald pond.
Aroma: Intensely floral with fresh jasmine sweetness, interwoven with the green tea’s delicate chestnut-like fragrance.
Flavor: Smooth, mellow, and sweet with a lingering aftertaste, free of astringency.
II. Production Process
1. Tea Base Selection
The tea base typically uses pre-Ming (early spring) tea leaves, such as tender buds from Mount Emei’s tea gardens above 800 meters. These leaves are delicate and contain moderate tannins, contributing to a refreshing taste.
The green tea undergoes fixation and rolling to form tightly rolled, slender dry leaves.
Stir-Frying Technique: A Sichuan-specific step where tea is stir-fried to enhance its natural aroma, preventing the floral notes from overpowering the tea’s essence16.

IV. Brewing Methods
Water Temperature: 85°C for glass cups; 90°C or higher for gaiwan.

V. Health Benefits and Precautions
Benefits: Combines the antioxidant properties of green tea polyphenols and jasmine compounds, aiding in mental alertness and stress relief.
Precautions: Avoid drinking on an empty stomach; pregnant individuals or those with sensitive stomachs should consume in moderation.
